Puffy Painting - Kids Activity
Do your kids love to paint?
I bet they do! I have yet to meet a toddler who doesn’t love a painting party! Here is a DIY recipe for 3D paint. It is incredibly easy to make and loads of fun.
Puffy painting is perfect for kids of all ages. Simply ensure they are past the phase of wanting to taste the crafts or are closely supervised. If you have older children, have them assist in mixing the paint together. It’s fun watching the ingredients combine and form this super cool mixture.
You will need:
White Paper
2.5-3 cups Shaving Cream (Foam not gel)
1 cup White School Glue
1 cup Flour
Food Colouring
Ziploc Bags
Scissors
Instructions:
1) Mix together 2.5-3 cups of shaving cream and 1 cup of white school glue. (I used one entire can of shaving cream for this recipe).
2) Fold in 1 cup of flour, gently mixing the ingredients together forming a puffy consistency.
3) Separate the mixture into individual bowls.
4) Add in 6-8 drops of food colouring to each bowl and mix.
5) Scoop the mixture into separate Ziploc bags and seal shut.
6) Using your scissors, cut a small corner off one side at the bottom of the bag. Note: you want the hole to be fairly small to ensure the mixture does not come out all in one squeeze. I made this mistake and will cut the hole even smaller next time.
7) Paint away! Be creative painting different shapes, florals, or even a rainbow as we did!
Kids love to be creative and they love anything new. You can easily change up this recipe by simply changing the colours. From soft pastels to bold and vibrant colours, the possibilities are endless! Add in some glitter for that extra “wow factor” or have your kids fill in the pages from their favourite colouring book! (Or use my free colouring pages to paint on!)
Be sure to have a damp cloth near by as this can be a little messy and sticky for little ones.
