No Bake, 3 Ingredient Play Dough!

What toddler doesn’t love play dough! It’s perfect for rainy days and can be a calming activity. Play dough has several benefits including developing their fine motor skills, enhancing hand-eye coordination and encouraging creativity. Let their imagination run wild as they learn different shapes and colours. As your child molds the dough, they are using small hand muscles which will assist them in the future with activities such as drawing or using scissors.

There are a variety of ways to make your own play dough. I have tried a few over the last year but what I love most about this recipe is that it is extremely easy and you likely have all the ingredients in your own home. It eliminates the last minute trip to the grocery store to grab that one item you are missing, especially since we are all limiting our trips to the stores these days.

You will need:

  • Cornstarch

  • Food Colouring

  • Hand or Body Lotion

Instructions:

1) Mix 1 cup of lotion and 2-3 drops of food colouring in a bowl
2) Add in 1 cup of cornstarch and mix
3) Once combined and not sticky, use your hands to knead into balls
4) Repeat for desired amount of colours
5) Overtime, the dough may harden. If so, you can add in additional drops of lotion

Store in Ziploc bags or small container and you will get many weeks of play out of this dough! Checkout my latest Instagram Reels to see a quick video of how I made these!
