Magic Paper Towel Craft - Kids Science Experiment

Winter is officially here and we are already diving into the holiday spirit. Truth is, once November hits, our household is already pulling out our Christmas decor with pure excitement. Along with pulling out our Christmas tree and rearranging our fireplace decor, we also are diving right into the holiday crafts!

This craft is a fan favourite and can be done all year around. It is perfect for any age, however if you have older children, having them draw the Christmas scene is an added bonus. With little ones, you can either draw the scene ahead of time, or have their little scribbles participate.

You will need:

  • Paper Towels

  • Washable Markers

  • A Bin or Container Filled 1 Inch with Water.

Instructions:

1) Fill a shallow tray or bowl up with water approx 1 inch and set aside. You may wish to place this on a towel to absorb any water spillage if kids are younger.

2) Using washable markers, draw on one side of a paper towel leaving it connected down the centre. If you have older children, have them draw their favourite holiday scene or trace one from a colouring book!

3) Fold the paper in half.

4) Dip the paper towel into the water face up and watch the magic happen. Your children will be amazed at the colours coming through.

I have done this with my kids where I drew the scene ahead of time, making it a big suprise when they dip the paper towel into the water to reveal the holiday scene.

Hope your kids have fun with this cool activity.
