Blow Painting Monsters - At Home Crafts for Kids

Blow painting toddler craft

Are you looking for a fun at home activity to do with your children this winter? Maybe you are in lockdown, or experiencing another snow storm, and need an easy activity to do with supplies you already have around your house.

Kids can get tired of the same painting activity on repeat. Sometimes the littlest changes make all the difference and are much more engaging for your little ones.

Our family loved creating these little monster friends. This easy painting activity turns your typical blow painting into an exciting creation which is simple yet engaging for toddlers of all ages.

Put your paint brushes aside and pull out some straws! This simple change will make a completely new craft for your toddler.

You will need:

  • Paper

  • Washable Paint

  • Straws

  • Craft Eyes

Instructions:

1) Place a few blobs of paint on the paper in a variety of colours.

2) Hand your child a straw and have them blow directly into the paint.

TIPS:

  • If you are using a reusable straw and can cut your straws in half, you will have more blowing power as you will be closer to the paint. Having more blowing power will mean your paint can travel further on the paper.

  • If you use liquid paint the colours will spread much more easily. We used a thicker washable paint to create more of a thicker design. If you don’t have liquid paint you can easily add water to your regular paint to make it spread more easily.

3) Add in your googly eyes and let dry overnight.
