Paper Heart Wreath - Valentine’s Day Crafts for Kids

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. It feels like just yesterday we were putting up our Christmas decorations and ringing in the New Year. Here we are, already took down our festive decor and looking for engaging Valentine’s Day activities to do with our children. Anything to keep these kids entertained and get us through the winter.

Heart wreath valentine craft

These paper heart wreaths make for a fun at home toddler activity and double as inexpensive beautiful home decor afterwards! We have them displayed all throughout the house and even debated leaving the Christmas tree up to hang these on.

Get creative with where you hang them!

Maybe you leave your tree up, hang them on your children’s doors, an outdoor play house, or even a dining room light fixture (yes we have some hung there currently). Wherever you decide to hang these beauties, make sure they are in a spot your child can be proud of and will enjoy seeing each day.

You will need:

  • Ribbon or String

  • Stapler

  • Construction Paper (red and pink work magically but any colour will do).

  • Scissors

Instructions:
1) Cut red and pink construction paper into strips approx 1.5 inches thick.
2) Fold the corners of the strip together into a heart and place one staple in the centre.
3) Repeat until you have your desired amount of hearts created.
4) Form a circle with your hearts and then place one sample between each heart creating a wreath. Note: you can also use a hot glue gun to create these.
5) Before completing the circle, be sure to place your ribbon between two hearts so that it is able to be hung nicely. I find placing the ribbon between the hearts before they are stapled works best and creates a seamless effect.
6) Get creative with where you hang these floral hearts, and have fun!

Enjoy the beauty of these hearts for your home and children’s entertainment.
