Apple Stamping - Fall Activity for Toddlers

Apples1

Fall is officially here!

I love fall fashion, crisp air, decorating my porch, nights by the fire, and autumn family activities! Apple picking, pumpkin patches, and hay rides truly make for memorable experiences bringing the family close together.

We recently went to our local apple orchard and selected some of the finest apples. Okay I’ll be honest, I had two toddlers picking their fair share of bruised apples which made their way into our basket. Apple stamping is the perfect toddler activity for those imperfect apples you want to make use of.

Instructions:

1) Go Apple Picking! Whether it’s your favourite local orchard or the grocery store down the street, grab a variety of apples in different sizes.

2) Try to select the apples less appealing to eat. If your children are like mine there will be an abundance of bruised apples which make their way into our apple picking basket. These apples are perfect for crafting.

3) Cut apples along the centre, picking out seeds on the surface.

4) There are two ways to do this apple stamping technique. If you have older children, you can get them to paint directly onto the apples and then stamp the paper directly. This will allow you to achieve many colours and create beautiful designs. If your kids are younger, it may be easier to place paint blobs onto a plastic or disposable plate. You then can have your toddler dip the apples like a stamp pad.

Whichever method you decide to take, make sure your paint is washable for easy cleanup!

Enjoy this new fun activity perfect for many ages.

OH and if you have any leftover apples, make apple crisp, apple pie, or apple PANCAKES!
