DIY Baptism Decor
Full disclosure, I am by no means a DIY-kind of mama, nor am I an avid crafter. With quarantine and the whole being stuck in your house thing this year, I figured why not get crafty (like I wasn’t busy enough) and make my own baptism decor for Stella’s baptism! After all, we only pushed back the date three times so I had plenty of time to figure this out.
Below I share three crafts I made completely from scratch! There may very well be different methods; however, I wanted to share how I made these with little to no experience. If you have any questions along the way, please don’t be shy to shoot me a message - I’d be happy to help!
WINE BOTTLE DECOR
You will need:
Hot Glue Gun
Wine Bottles
Spray Paint (I used Krylon Premium Metallic)
Adhesive Glue (I used a spray adhesive by Lepage)
Sparkles
Painters Tape
Dish Soap & Sponge
Wooden Letters (optional)
Faux Floral
Instructions:
1) Drink wine…save the bottles.
2) Remove the labels by soaking wine bottles in hot water and rubbing a sponge with dish soap on them.
3) Spray paint the bottles & letters (if you are adding letters) with 2-3 coats. Let dry overnight.
4) Decide where you would like the sparkles and apply a spray adhesive glue. Immediately shake the sparkles on. (I placed a piece of paper below to catch the sparkles so I could reuse the excess).
Note: If you only want sparkles on half the bottle, use painters tape to cover up the section where you don’t want sparkles.
5) Use a hot glue gun to attach letters and floral.
FLORAL WREATHS
You will need:
Floral Hoop
Hot Glue Gun
Gardening Wire
Wire Cutter or Pliers
Faux Floral
Decorative Ribbon
Instructions:
1) Wrap the decorative ribbon around the floral hoop by placing hot glue every 5 inches.
(Note: I spray painted the hoops first to match my ribbon, however if the ribbon design is thick enough you can skip this).
2) Plan where you would like your floral by starting with the greenery.
3) Cut the excess off the stem and attach one piece at a time using the gardening wire. (attach like a twist-tie).
4) Add in the floral and attach with the gardening wire.
5) Cut off any excess stems using the wire cutter.
Note: After securing the floral with the gardening wire, you can go in with your hot glue gun to ensure the floral does not move around.
GOLD PICTURE FRAMES:
You will need:
Spray Paint
Old Picture Frames
Instructions:
1) Remove glass from picture frames.
2) Spray 2-3 coats of spray paint in desired colour.
3) Let dry overnight and it’s ready to place pictures inside!
