Easter Egg Stamping - Spring Activity
Every Easter I try to think of new activities for the kids to do.
Last year I put together an Easter themed sensory bin (click HERE to see). This year I wanted to try something my children haven’t done, can you believe we have never done potato stamping! Mind blowing as this is an activity I remember doing as a kid.
You truly can curate this activity to any theme or season. Try carving leaves for the fall, hearts for valentines, or even little pineapples for a fun fruit theme. Be creative! If you are reading this in the dead of winter and aren’t feeling the Easter Eggs, this activity still works. Try stamping little snowmen, snowflakes, or whatever your creative minds comes up with.
I love this Easter potato stamping activity as the colours are extremely bright and cheerful for spring. I also carved my kids initials as we have been practicing the alphabet!
You will need:
- Potatoes
- Washable Paint
- Paint Brushes (optional)
- Knife (adult use only)
- Construction Paper
Instructions:
1) Have an adult cut the potatoes in half length wise to form an egg shape
2) Using a knife, cut a pattern into the potato. I used a zig zag and did my children’s initials
3) Either paint directly onto your potato where you want the colours or add drops of paint to a paper plate so you can fully stamp your potato into the paint and onto the paper. Depending on your child’s age, one may work better than the other!
And that’s it! Try Easter egg stamping to make your Easter Cards this year. It is a great DIY and your kids will love to see Gandma’s face when she receives the personalized cards made with love.
Wishing you and your family a wonderful Easter.
